BPC PEOPLE – Aline Reynolds

Title: Technical Communications Manager
Favorite BPC Spot: Pier A

Aline grew up on Long Island and moved to New York City for college. With a passion for cities and the written word, she began her career as a newspaper journalist covering urban affairs for the local Lower Manhattan papers, the Downtown Express (now The Villager) and the Tribeca Trib.

Her coverage of the post-9/11 revitalization efforts in Lower Manhattan – including the rebuilding of the World Trade Center, the rise and fall of Occupy Wall Street, and the recovery and resiliency initiatives following Superstorm Sandy – triggered in her a fascination with city planning.

Aline then left New York to pursue a degree in urban planning at Harvard University, with the dream of returning to her beloved Lower Manhattan on the planning side. So when offered a position as Technical Communications Manager for the Battery Park City Authority, she felt like she was coming full circle. At BPCA, Aline drafts and edits a range of technical documents, including memoranda and Requests for Proposals, with the goal of clearly conveying the scope of work involved in BPC projects undertaken by urban designers and engineers.

“I really enjoy coming to work every day and collaborating with such a talented, friendly group of people,” she says. As for subject matter, Aline is especially excited about BPCA’s four-part resiliency initiative. “I really appreciate the Authority’s unwavering dedication to protecting this cherished neighborhood from future storms and sea-level rise. It has its priorities right!”

In her spare time, Aline enjoys attending classical music concerts and discovering new nooks in Central Park. Her hobbies also include piano, frisbee, and tennis.
