BPC PEOPLE – Jonathan Gross

Title: Art Director
Favorite BPC Spot: South Cove

Battery Park City Authority’s go-to fotog, Jonathan Gross has nurtured a lifelong passion for visual arts since his early 20s.

After graduating from SUNY Purchase with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Jonathan opened a photography studio in SoHo, photographing magazine covers and still lifes for New York Magazine and Fortune 500 companies. He later landed graphic design gigs at Polo Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, and now spends his days capturing BPCA’s parks and programs.

It all began in 2016, when Jonathan joined BPCA as Associate Art Director, a job he happily looks forward to every day. He has worked on a wide array of projects, including BPCA’s 2019 Summer Calendar, which he updated aesthetically by incorporating his own personal design flare of bright graphics and sleek text.

Another recent project includes the promotional posters for the 20th Annual River & Blues Music Festival, which he says were inspired by concert poster designs from the 1960s. He hand-painted the logo to incorporate a handmade aesthetic to the designs.

In his free time, Jonathan enjoys sailing in Manhasset Bay with his wife, daughter, and son.
