Community partners for the win!

BPCA recently received confirmation that the NYC Department of Education is conducting a major renovation to Stuyvesant High School’s heating, air conditioning, and ventilation (HVAC) systems this summer. The school will be closed to all activity in July, August, and early September to accommodate an aggressive construction schedule that should enable it to reopen in September for the 2024-2025 school year. As a result, the Community Center at Stuyvesant High School (CCSHS) will also be closed until the renovations are complete, and all active memberships will be extended for each day that the facility is closed.

During this time, our neighbors at the Battery Park City campus of Asphalt Green, proud members of the BPC community for over a decade, have generously offered currently-active CCSHS members a free membership from July 1 through September 2, 2024. If you are interested in taking advantage of the membership at Asphalt Green, please submit your information here by June 1, 2024. If you do not complete the online form by June 1, you will not be eligible for this temporary membership. As of today, no new CCSHS memberships, or renewals of previously expired memberships, will be initiated until CCSHS reopens in September.

While BPCA had no control over the closing of CCSHS for the summer, we hope that a temporary membership at Asphalt Green is a welcome alternative, and that the scheduled closure will pass by quickly. Thank you to Asphalt Green’s commitment to helping improve the lives of Battery Park City residents, and we look forward to CCSHS being back and better than ever in September!

Additional questions about CCSHS can be sent to communitycenter@bpca.ny.gov.
