"Battery Park City and the Authority are not just about the buildings – it’s about the character of the community that has developed over time. Public space has had a new renaissance in New York City, but here in Battery Park City is where it started."

OPERATION PUMPKIN DROP

BPC Pumpkin Composting Runs from November 1-4

What a smash! BPCA’s Parks Operations team has established drop off locations throughout Battery Park City for anyone wishing to drop off their Halloween pumpkins for composting beginning Tuesday, November 1. Your pumpkins will be sustainably composted and used to create a quality soil fertilizer. After the composting process is complete, these nutrients will be returned to BPC’s gardens to help improve our soil fertility.

To participate, simply drop your pumpkin(s) in any of the gray bins at the locations listed below. BPCA will be collecting the pumpkins through November 4.

Drop Off Locations:
– Outside 75 Battery Place
– Esplanade Plaza
– Teardrop Park South
– Rockefeller Park – lower level of Chambers Street & River Terrace by Tribeca Pointe

To date in 2022, BPCA has composted more than 36,000 pounds of fruit, vegetables, plants, and coffee grounds dropped by neighborhood residents. Thank you for helping keep Battery Park City beautiful!

If you’d like to learn more about the composting process please reach out to info.bpc@bpca.ny.gov.
