PLAY BALL! BPC BALL FIELDS OPEN FOR START OF LITTLE LEAGUE SEASON

BPC Ball Fields Reopened April 11 after $2.7 Million Renovation

Knocked it out of the park! The Battery Park City Authority hosted Downtown Little League and local elected officials Assembly Member Charles Fall and Council Member Chris Marte the evening of Friday, April 17 to mark the start of little league season at the newly-renovated BPC Ball Fields.

Closed in November 2025 to facilitate turf replacement and facility upgrades, the fields reopened the weekend of April 11-12, 2026 for little league play. In addition to new turf, facility improvements include a larger playing surface, backstop repairs, new batting cages and outfield fencing, water misters, and more.

Downtown Little League noted: “This season marks a particularly meaningful moment for our league and our community as we proudly welcome players, families, and neighbors onto the newly renovated fields — made possible through the Battery Park City Authority’s extraordinary investment. Your support has created more than just a place to play; it has built a space where community, teamwork, and youth development can thrive.”

A treasured local amenity, the roughly 80,000 square foot BPC Ball Fields are used by some 50,000 area youth annually — and BPCA is proud to improve and maintain them for many more seasons in the sun.
