COMMUNITY NOTICE: NWBPCR PROJECT GEOTECHINCAL SAMPLING WORK AROUND NORTH COVE MARINA

In support of ongoing design of the North/West Battery Park City Resiliency Project (NWBPCR), BPCA is continuing its geotechnical sampling work at various locations throughout Battery Park City to determine subsurface conditions at critical locations along the project area.

Over the coming weeks, geotechnical borings — which entail the removal of surface fill and drilling through the structural platform and water until reaching bedrock — will be conducted on the lower Esplanade around North Cove Marina. Parks users will see fenced-in enclosures, behind which this work will proceed, at two locations at the northern end of Waterfront Plaza and at two locations on the western edge of Pumphouse Park. The locations west of the park may shift into the park as necessitated by subsurface conditions.

Geotechnical sampling work will occur during regular citywide construction hours of 7AM-6PM, Monday thru Friday.
