COMMUNITY NOTICE: TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURES, SEPTEMBER 23-24, 2023

Closures in Support of Annual Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk

In support of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Annual 5K Run & Walk, and at the direction of our partners at the New York City Police Department, please be advised of the following local street closures for the weekend of September 23 and 24. Closures apply to vehicular traffic only.

Saturday, September 23:

Vesey Street and parts of North End Avenue from Vesey Street to Murray Street will begin closing at midnight.

Sunday, September 24, from 7AM to 3PM:

– Liberty Street
– South End Avenue (Liberty Street to Albany Street)
– Albany Street
– Vesey Street*
– Murray Street (River Terrace to West Street)
– North End Avenue (Vesey Street to Warren Street)
– Warren Street (BPC Esplanade/River Terrace to West Street)
– River Terrace (Irish Hunger Memorial to Warren Street)
– West Street southbound lane (7AM-2PM); northbound lane (8AM-12PM)

* Vesey Street to remain closed through clean up and will reopen following sanitation sweep at approximately 5PM.

Hugh L. Carey Tunnel:

One tube of the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel will be closed from 10:00PM Saturday evening through 7:45AM Sunday morning. One lane will be open in each direction in the remaining tube during this time.

In addition, beginning at 7:00AM on Sunday, there will be no access to the Manhattan-bound HLC Tunnel from local streets in Brooklyn. Access to the Manhattan-bound HLC Tunnel from Brooklyn will only be available via the Gowanus Expressway until 7:45AM.

Motorists are advised to allow for additional travel time and consider an alternate route.
