"Battery Park City and the Authority are not just about the buildings – it’s about the character of the community that has developed over time. Public space has had a new renaissance in New York City, but here in Battery Park City is where it started."

IRISH HUNGER MEMORIAL – PERMANENT PLANTINGS

Beginning Monday, September 18, Battery Park City’s Irish Hunger Memorial will be closed for the installation of its final, permanent plantings. The Memorial reopened to the public with temporary plantings in July, after a comprehensive waterproofing and leak remediation project that began in 2016. The permanent plantings now being installed represent the last phase of this project.

The Memorial is expected to re-open on a permanent basis during the week of October 16, 2017.
