Based on a Hungarian folktale, Son of the White Mare (Marcell Jankovics,1981), is a swirling, color-mad epic journey to save the universe. Reminiscent of the hallucinatory palette of “Yellow Submarine” and the rich visual storytelling of “Fantasia”, critics have deemed it one of the greatest psychedelic animated movies ever made. Come to Battery Park City’s 6th annual Juneteenth Celebration! A brief history of Juneteenth will be told by members of the Federation of Black Cowboys, with lasso demonstration. Bluesmen Michael Hill and friends Jerry Dugger, Junior Mack and Bill McClellan present a live Juneteenth Jam along with a sing-along to songs of the Underground Railroad and American Civil Rights Movement’s Freedom Riders. Take pony rides (Must be 3 years old or older for pony ride). Make your own Juneteenth flag and greeting card Western-style or fancy dress is optional!
