Enjoy this nostalgic celebration of the summer solstice. Join in lively dance around the Midsummer pole. Make wreaths from beautiful flowers representing those in bloom on the solstice in Sweden. Enjoy a parade, children’s games, and Swedish delicacies. Traditional music by Paul Dahlin and fiddlers from the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis. Dances led by Ross Sutter, a Scandinavian folklorist.
Singer/songwriter Terre Roche leads this weekly singing program with the beautiful backdrop of the setting sun in NY Harbor. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned crooner, the singing circle is perfect for mellow melodies and healthy harmonizing. No program on 5/27.
Trombonist/composer Craig Harris plays rich, wide-ranging improvisation and creates compositions as varied as his source inspirations in spirituals, Jazz, avant-garde, R & B and hip-hop. His partners through the years included Lester Bowie, Sun Ra, Cecil Taylor, David Murray, The Roots and many more luminaries. He will be joined by an ensemble that elevates as it celebrates creativity.

A lunch time program for passersby to play a quick game of chess or backgammon. Using clocks, opponents will play 5 minute games that are fast, furious and fun. An instructor will be on hand to offer pointers and tips to improve your game.
