Seattle-based seven piece The Dip delivers the kind of unbridled rhythm-and-blues that hits on every emotional level. Inciting everything from raw catharsis to heavy-hearted reckoning to wildly exuberant joy, the resulting body of work captures the mood of the current moment while offering immediate escape into a more elevated state of mind.

TAMIKREST
Tamikrest music draws from West African Ishumar rebel music and Tuareg Blues, and borrows from various international influences as well as neighboring cultures. The band seeks to make Tamasheq poetry and culture accessible to inhabitants of a world larger than the immensity of the Saharian desert.

ALLISON RUSSELL
Allison Russell – poet, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, activist, and co-founder of Our Native Daughters and Birds of Chicago – unpacks her youth in searing detail on her tour de force debut album Outside Child. She sings about deliverance and redemption, about the places and people and realizations that helped her survive and claim her freedom.

DJ Reaganomics of Staten Island is very active in the scene which some call “global bass,” drawing on an extremely diverse, largely African and Afro-diasporic palate to make exciting dance music for the present moment.

Third-generation DJ Susan Z. Anthony will warm up the River & Blues stage every Thursday this July at 6PM. Come early and check out her eclectic sets that slide from underground cuts to classic party knockers and back again.

IS ROCKEFELLER PARK AN ALL-AGES VENUE?

All ages are welcome.

WILL THERE BE SEATING?

There is no assigned seating, first-come, first served. Picnics encouraged. Lawn chairs permitted, if the venue gets crowded, patrons may be asked to make room to allow for more guests.

ARE DOGS ALLOWED?

No. We love your dogs, but unfortunately they are not allowed on the lawns.

WHAT IS THE POLICY FOR PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING IN ROCKEFELLER PARK?

Battery Park City Authority and artists’ management reserve the right to prohibit photography and video during the performance. Professional cameras and video accessories (tripods, microphones, extra lighting) are not allowed without prior consent. Thank you for being respectful of the artists and the other members of the audience.

IS FOOD/DRINK AVAILABLE DURING THE PERFORMANCE?

Audiences may bring outside food to picnic on the lawns at the show site.

ARE THERE RESTROOMS AVAILABLE

Yes, on-site restrooms will be available throughout the evening.
