ATTENTION PERMIT APPLICANTS: Important Update — Please Read Immediately - PERMIT APPLICANTS
Thank you for your interest in hosting an event in Battery Park City (BPC).
As part of a broader effort to protect Lower Manhattan, Battery Park City is undergoing major coastal resilience construction.
The next phase of this initiative—the Northwest Battery Park City Resiliency (NWBPCR) Project—officially launched in
November 2025, with active construction expected from Spring 2026 through 2030.
While all BPC parks will remain open during this time, the project will significantly impact public access and event logistics,
particularly in the northern section of Battery Park City.
WALKATHONS
Due to closures at the North Cove Marina and the North Esplanade, traditional 5K routes that start at Esplanade Plaza,
Rockefeller Park, or enter from the North Esplanade are currently offline.
That said, walkathons entering from the south (e.g., Battery Place) are still encouraged. These requests will require use of
public sidewalks and crosswalks and may be subject to NYPD and DOT review.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Event applications are still welcome; however, vehicle access to Rockefeller Park is currently offline. All equipment must
be transported by hand to and from event sites within the park.
Visit our NWBPCR Site Readiness page to view maps and learn more about how construction may impact your event plans.
Thank you for your continued partnership and understanding as we build a more resilient Battery Park City. Barring any
unforeseen changes, we look forward to fully welcoming you back in 2030!
