"Battery Park City and the Authority are not just about the buildings – it’s about the character of the community that has developed over time. Public space has had a new renaissance in New York City, but here in Battery Park City is where it started."
Manhattan Community Board 1 (CB1) is one of New York ‘s 59 community boards, which are advisory bodies with a formal role designated by the City Charter in matters such as land use, determining local budget priorities, and monitoring City service delivery.
CB1 has 50 volunteer members who live or work in Lower Manhattan. Members are appointed by the Manhattan Borough President with half recommended by the City Council Member representing the 1st Council District.
CB1 members serve on various committees, one of which is the Battery Park City Committee. Each month, the Battery Park City Authority attends and issues a report at the BPC Committee meeting. The BPC Committee usually meets on the first Wednesday of each month, except August.
