SUMMARY:HURRICANE MARIA COMMEMORATION WITH NUYORICAN POETS CAFE
DESCRIPTION:The memorial will commemorate the 9th year since Hurricane Maria touched ground in Puerto Rico\, ravaging the landscape\, displacing countless Boricuas\, and claiming the lives of thousands of innocent victims. This event will honor the lives and diasporic support for those who continue to mourn and struggle from the hurricane’s aftermath. This will be a multi-disciplinary cultural performance with poetry by Bonafide Rojas\, live music and dance by Los Pleneros de la 21\, and an open mic hosted by Paul con Queso for guest poets in the audience. The event will be held at the Hurricane Maria Memorial in Rockefeller Park with the powerful art installation that features the poetry of Julia de Burgos. \nPresened in partnership with Nuyorican Poets Cafe and Battery Park City Authority.
