DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by the Museum’s Associates and Young Friends\, this event brings together Holocaust survivors\, their families\, and friends to pay tribute to the six million Jews who perished\, while honoring those individuals who survived to rebuild their families and communities. This year’s dinner will feature the story of Martin Greenfield. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1928\, Martin was in Auschwitz during the Holocaust and was liberated by the American Army. He immigrated to the United States in 1947 at the young age of 19. In New York\, he began working for GGG Clothiers and in 1977\, he bought the company and renamed it Martin Greenfield Clothiers. Known as the “tailor to the stars\,” he has made suits for many celebrities\, including three presidents. He remains in business today with his two sons by his side. DESCRIPTION:Ruth Zimbler was born in Vienna\, Austria in 1928. Ruth and her brother Walter watched the destruction of the largest synagogue in Vienna from their apartment on November 10\, 1938 during Kristallnacht. Ruth and Walter were on the first Kindertransport out of Vienna in December 1938. Their father\, who worked for the Jewish Kultusgemeinde\, facilitated the journey. Their destination was den Haag in Holland. Ruth and her family eventually made it to New York in late 1939. \nFree with admission to museum.

DESCRIPTION:Come to the Museum of Jewish Heritage to hear an insightful testimony from a Holocaust survivor.\nRay Kaner was born in Lodz\, Poland. She endured Ghetto Lodz\, and was transported to Auschwitz in August 1944 during the liquidation of the ghetto. She was later transported to the labor camp Hambieren\, Germany where she was liberated by the British on April 15\, 1945. She and her husband arrived in New York City in 1946.
