UPDATE (2): Rockefeller Park Playground re-opened to the public on October 16, 2020.
UPDATE: This project is now scheduled for completion in fall 2020.
On August 26, BPCA will begin restoration of the Rockefeller Park Playground, located west of River Terrace and southwest of Murray Street in Battery Park City. This project will repair, refurbish, and replace old and worn equipment, as well as create a new play surface at the popular downtown destination. This effort will last roughly four months, until December 2019, with an eye toward minimizing community impact.
Once underway, renovation efforts will require closure the park with temporary fencing. In the interim, parks users are invited to enjoy the play areas and water features at nearby Teardrop Park, as well as at Kowsky Plaza Playground and West Thames Park Playground.
