As part of the South Battery Park City Resiliency Project, the next phase of our underwater pile remediation efforts have begun adjacent to Wagner Park. Once complete, the newly-strengthened piles – thick concrete supports driven into the riverbed that serve as foundation for the BPC Esplanade – will help bear the load of an new, climate-resilient Wagner park designed to mitigate the effects of storm surge and sea level rise.
As this work is being conducted by barge, Wagner Park and the Esplanade will remain open to the public for the duration of the pile remediation project.
