Beginning Monday, August 8, 2016 construction to rebuild the New York City Police Memorial’s electrical vaults will begin, restoring the Memorial’s integral water and light features debilitated during Superstorm Sandy. Electrical vault construction will take approximately 10 months, with an estimated project completion in the May-June 2017 time frame.
Construction is currently planned to occur only during the regular weekday hours permitted for such work (Monday-Friday, 7:00am-6:00pm).
Both the Kowsky Plaza playground and dog run will remain open throughout the project, with a single point of access to the dog run as illustrated in the graphic above.
Two trees will also be removed to accommodate the new structures, renderings of which are available here.
