PUMPKIN THRICE!

Annual Pumpkin Composting Runs Through November 5

Battery Park City Authority is once again accepting pumpkins as part of its annual Operation Pumpkin Drop. Simply leave your pumpkins in the gray bins at any of the four locations below and they’ll be sustainably composted and used to create a quality soil fertilizer.

Drop Off Locations:
– Outside 75 Battery Place
– Esplanade Plaza
– Teardrop Park South
– Rockefeller Park (lower level of Chambers Street & River Terrace by Tribeca Pointe)

After the composting process is complete, these nutrients will be returned to BPC’s gardens to help improve our soil fertility. BPCA will be collecting the pumpkins through Tuesday, November 5.

Over the past two years, the Authority collected more than 1,5000 pounds of pumpkin. This material, along with fruits, vegetables, tea bags/leaves, coffee grounds/filters, and spent flowers left by the community as part of BPCA’s year-round community compost program, help BPCA’s leading sustainability efforts by diverting the amount of waste sent to landfill. Email compost@bpca.ny.gov for more information or questions.
