COMMUNITY NOTICE: NEW YORK LIBERTY PARADE TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURES – OCTOBER 24, 2024

Closures in support of the New York Liberty WNBA Championship Parade

In celebration of the New York Liberty’s first-ever WNBA championship, a ticker tape parade will be taking place through the Canyon of Heroes on Thursday, October 24, 2024 beginning from The Battery, with a staging area in Battery Park City, and ending at City Hall. Everyone is welcome to join along the Canyon of Heroes parade route (Broadway between Battery Place and Chambers Street). The parade begins at 10AM.

Vehicular Street Closures & School Drop-off
Closures will begin at Broadway and Battery Place, with a staging area at West Thames Street. Parents and guardians dropping off students at PS/IS 276 should do so by no later than 8:40AM.

Portions of Battery Park City should expect traffic delays beginning at 9AM with the parade beginning at roughly 10AM. The Brooklyn Bridge (Manhattan Bound) Centre Street exit and the Park Row entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge will be closed during the entire parade. Drivers should use the Frankfort Street/Pearl Street entrance for access to the Brooklyn Bridge during this time.

Sidewalks & Bike Lanes
Sidewalks will remain open for pedestrians. Bike lanes will be closed until the parade route has moved out of The Battery. Drivers should be advised to expect delays and plan alternative routes where possible.

No Parking Locations
Below is a list of BPC locations with “No Parking, Thursday” signs posted. Any cars remaining will be towed and relocated. If your car is towed, please call 311 for more information.

– Both sides of Thames Street between West Street & South End Avenue
– B/S of South End Avenue between 3rd Place to Rector Place
– B/S of Battery Place between Little West Street & West Thames Street
– B/S of Little West Street between 2nd Place & Battery Place
– B/S of Battery Place between Little West Street & Broadway

Public Transportation
The Downtown Connection bus will not run on Thursday. Normal service will resume at 10AM on Friday, October 25. Read more here.

The MTA will have train service changes and may close certain subway entrances and exits in the area. Due to street closures, many MTA buses may be re-routed. Visit the MTA website for any additional information. (https://new.mta.info/).
