BPCA is beginning construction mobilization this week on the South Battery Park City Resiliency Project (SBPCR), an integrated coastal flood risk management system from the Museum of Jewish Heritage, across Wagner Park and Pier A Plaza, and along the northern border of the Historic Battery. The SBPCR Project, along with the forthcoming North/West Battery Park City Resiliency Project, are part of the overall Lower Manhattan Coastal Resiliency Project, an integrated coastal protection initiative aimed at reducing flood risk due to coastal storms and sea level rise in Lower Manhattan.
To facilitate this work you will see the following activity occurring on and around the project site:
– Temporary supplemental light towers are being installed around the Museum of Jewish Heritage and along the Wagner Park Esplanade, on the exterior of the construction fence, to ensure the area remains well-lit while electrical power to the park is shut off.
– Trailers to facilitate construction work are being brought in and set up on the project site.
