An exciting fusion of badminton and tennis, pickleball has been proven to strengthen muscles, boost cardiovascular health, and enhance brain function. Each Thursday the net at Esplanade Plaza will be lowered to allow for pickleball games, on a first come first serve basis. Permits are also available at bpca.ny.gov. No program 7/4.

Let your inner artist shine! Join other school-age children for art by the Park House. Art teachers lead individual and group projects using clay, collage, paint and more. Referencing our Zero Waste Initiative, projects with a focus on recycled, upcycled, and reused materials will inspire artists to care for our world in creative ways! Art supplies provided. What birds live in your backyard? Join us this spring migration season to find out! This series of birdwatching outings is fun for beginners, hobbyists, and lifelong birders alike. A wonderful opportunity for little gardeners and their accompanying adults to get a bug’s-eye-view of the world! Join us as we read stories about the life within our garden beds and then head into the Children’s Garden to water, dig, and admire the plants and flowers all around us! Together, we will observe the changing seasons and learn about the pollinators and other insects who help our plants thrive. Gardening is a great introduction to teaching us how to care for the environment.

Art Talk: Justice Reflected

Drop-in for a talk with BPCA’s director of public art about Justice Reflected, the mosaic art adorning the Esplanade Plaza wall. See art that tells an allegorical story of justice and injustice, freedom, and incarceration in America. Learn about the artist James Yaya Hough’s life and his use of universal symbolism to express humanity’s complexity.

Justice Reflected was created in 2022 for Battery Park City in partnership with the Art for Justice Fund.

An optional art activity will be available.
