A wonderful opportunity for little gardeners and their accompanying adults to get a bug's-eye-view of the world! Join us as we read stories about the life within our garden beds and then head into the Children’s Garden to water, dig, and admire the plants and flowers all around us! Together, we will observe the changing seasons and learn about the pollinators and other insects who help our plants thrive. Gardening is a great introduction to teaching us how to care for the environment.

This BPC park offers a unique setting to observe and sketch the human figure. Each week a model will strike short and long poses for participants to draw. An artist/educator will offer constructive suggestions and critique. Drawing materials provided, and artists are encouraged to bring their own favorite media.

Get ready to move and have fun as we explore how our own bodies help us understand skyscrapers! After a history lesson on the celebration of Juneteenth and how African-American culture has impacted this country, kids will learn why mindfulness is important and connect to their foundations to stretch to new heights in a 30-minute yoga session! They will have a chance to create a yoga pose inspired by their favorite skyscrapers in the museum exhibits. This activity will help improve motor skills, mindfulness, and gives kids a creative outlet for self-expression.

Come to Battery Park City’s 6th annual Juneteenth Celebration! A brief history of Juneteenth will be told by members of the Federation of Black Cowboys, with lasso demonstration. Bluesmen Michael Hill and friends Jerry Dugger, Junior Mack and Bill McClellan present a live Juneteenth Jam along with a sing-along to songs of the Underground Railroad and American Civil Rights Movement’s Freedom Riders. Take pony rides (Must be 3 years old or older for pony ride). Make your own Juneteenth flag and greeting card Western-style or fancy dress is optional!

Join the Museum of Jewish Heritage and the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra for a special concert on Juneteenth, the holiday that commemorates the emancipation of slaves in the United States. Presenting music that celebrates the Black experience, and featuring the world premiere of KCO Music Director Gary S. Fagin’s Good Trouble, inspired by the late Congressman and civil rights icon John Lewis.
