First generation American, Brooklyn native, and Battery Park City Authority’s go-to for all things administrative management, Jahmeliah Nathan has always had a passion for public service. She attended undergrad at SUNY Binghamton, majoring in Philosophy, Politics & Law and participating in campus political clubs and culture.
After earning her Master of Public Administration from Long Island University, Jahmeliah held several positions in the Mayor’s Office during the Bloomberg Administration, including Executive Director for Intergovernmental Affairs for New York City’s Department of Education, Chief of Staff for the Mayor’s Office of Contract Services, and Senior Legislative Analyst for the Mayor’s Office of Legislative Affairs.
Before coming to Battery Park City Authority in February 2019, Jahmeliah served as the Chief Diversity Officer of the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery, where she co-founded and developed the Office of Diversity and Civil Rights. Her work at BPCA to date includes spearheading the modernization of the organization’s procurement process and continuing efforts to strengthen minority, women and veteran-owned business utilization.
When she isn’t busy improving New York City – and now Battery Park City! – Jahmeliah enjoys spending time with her niece and nephew, reading political thrillers, and hosting holiday parties.
