BPCA HAS A NEW FACE!
The Battery Park City Authority has launched a redesigned website under a new domain. Visitors to the website will find the pages easier to navigate and experience quicker load times. You will find an abundance of information on the website, including Board Meeting announcements, blog postings, permit applications, RFPs and employment opportunities.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE A GREEN THUMB
On Wednesday, from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM, work alongside the Battery Park City Parks Conservancy’s horticulturists. This program runs until October 28th and will teach participants about the Conservancy’s
unique methods of sustainable horticulture. For more information,

UPCOMING EVENTS
LOWDOWN HUDSON MUSIC FEST
When: July 14 – 15, 2015, from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Where: Brookfield Place
Cost: Free
Arts Brookfield’s annual summer music festival kicks off on the Hudson River waterfront and will feature blues and favorites from the rock, roots and Americana scenes. Live music performances will take place on both days of the event.
The first night of the music festival will feature the rock and reggae band, O.A.R, and the celebrated Americana singer-songwriter, Ryan Bingham.
The second night of the music festival will feature performances by The Wood Brothers and The Word. The Wood Brothers features Chris and Oliver Wood who combine blues, folk and roots-music styles to form their own evocative sound. The Word is an improvisational rock-gospel super group featuring pedal-steel guitarist Robert Randolph, keyboardist John Medeski, guitarist Luther Dickinson, drummer Cody Dickinson and bassist Chris Chew.

RIVER & BLUES CONCERT
When: Thursdays in July from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Where: Wagner Park
Cost: Free
July 16 – Valerie June performs her own spectrum of “Organic Moonshine Roots Music” that fuses Appalachian folk, blues, gospel, soul and country with stunning originality.
July 23 – Henry Butler & Friends combine the dazzling New Orleans boogie piano with the driving pulse of a great blues band.
July 30 – Alexis P. Suter and The Ministers of Sound boldly perform powerhouse vocals complemented by electric Chicago Blues style.

TEN TOPS: CURATOR’S TOUR
When: July 15, 2015, from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Where: Skyscraper Museum
Cost: Free
Explore the history of the New York skyline as you walk through the Skyscraper Museum and take in the various exhibits that depict the city’s unique blend of architecture. Take a look at the museum’s latest exhibition, TEN TOPS, led by Director and Curator, Carol Willis.

TWO-STEP FAMILY DANCE WITH NORTH OF AMARILLO
When: July 18, 2015, from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Where: Esplanade Plaza
Cost: Free
Put on your dancing shoes and bring the whole family out for an evening of energetic community dancing for all ages. North of Amarillo will play an upbeat mix of classic country music that will have the whole family on their feet. An instructor will be on hand to teach the audience the basic swings, slides and turns of classic Texas Two-Step.

Join Andrew Dolkart as he talks about his book, “Saving Place: 50 Years of New York City Landmarks.” Dolkart is the author of numerous books on the architecture and urban development of New York City, focusing in particular on the city’s every day, vernacular building type.

PEOPLE TO MEET
Gladys Pearlman • Park Host, Battery Park City Parks Conservancy
Since 1984, Gladys Pearlman has been bringing her joy, creativity and enthusiasm to the parks and fields of Battery Park City. She has influenced a generation of local residents through the many programs she has been involved with. Whether she is organizing games, handing out toys or teaching youngsters how to play tennis, Gladys always manages to bring a smile to kids’ faces. It is no wonder that her motto is “play is important.”
Since the Park House opened over twenty years ago, Gladys has served as its unofficial ambassador, and many park users have affectionately renamed it “Gladys’ Park”. Constantly vigilant about BPC’s open spaces, she is an endless source of information to all visitors of the park and can often be seen directing people to their destinations, teaching, encouraging team-building and fostering friendship and kindness to all park users – especially children.
