The Moth Community StorySLAM is a noncompetitive, open-mic storytelling event in which anyone can share a 5 min story on the night’s theme. Entry is free – come to enjoy the show or for the chance to put your name in the hat to tell a true, personal story, live without notes!

Prior to the slam, Moth instructors will host two workshops offering guidance, techniques, and practice on the craft of storytelling.

Workshop 1: Oct 1, 6-7:30PM

Workshop 2: Oct 8, 2-3:30PM

The Moth Community Engagement team partners with community organizations, cultural institutions and non-profits to host workshops and events that inspire confidence and self-reflection and deepen connections within and between communities.

This program is recommended for teens and adults.

Join experienced anglers for catch-and-release fishing and learn about life in the Hudson River. Help observe and identify the fish we catch, enabling us to share valuable data with research groups who monitor the health of our local waters. The day also includes an art project and a nature walk. Plus: don’t miss a live performance from Sonia de los Santos.

Celebrate the opening of artists Davina Hsu’s Blessing Transmission and Michelle Weinberg’s River Semaphore with a tour of their public artworks. Produced in partnership with ArtBridge*, the new site-specific imagery covers 1100 feet of construction fence along Battery Place. A family-friendly art making workshop inspired by the art and led by BPCA art educators will follow the tour.
